The Fire Investigator analyzes fire caused by applying scientific principles.  Ability to conduct investigations in commercial properties, residential structures, automobiles, boats, and heavy equipment.

 

The Fire Investigator will be responsible for scheduling and visiting sites, gathering and analyzing data, collection of evidence and research.

 

Requirements:

 

·       Bachelors Degree in fire science or criminal justice would be desirable.

·       Must be familiar with NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033;

·       Must have CFI and/or CFEI certification or be qualified to test for both within six months.  Must be qualified to become a private investigator and hold a valid Florida Class “C” license;

·       Must possess excellent communication skills.  The ability to communicate both verbally and in writing is essential.  Deals with individuals on all levels of insurance claim assignments.  Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to speak to groups of people may be required;

·       Capable of writing detailed reports explaining fire scene findings;

·       Must have basic computer skills and be capable of digitally photographing fire scenes and making site drawings;

·       Extensive knowledge of fire science and building construction is a must;

·       Must be qualified as an expert witness and be prepared to offer testimony in cases involving fires and explosions;

·       Must be capable of visiting sites and handling all phases of fire/explosion investigations with little or no supervision.
