The Florida Fire Marshals and Inspector's Association Presents

Public Safety In-Building DAS Design and Plan Review Sessions - 4hr

This is a combination of 2 Courses.
DAS Installation Plan Review and Inspection with NFPA 72 and NFPA1221 &
Radio System Installation Requirements (High-rise, DAS and Coverage)

Eighty Five Percent of mobile phone calls now occur inside buildings and 65 percent of E911 calls are initiated on a mobile device.  Inside buildings we have to address whether the general public can communicate and whether First Responder radios will work.  Updates to New Building codes and IFC 2018 Code changes for In-Building Radio Enhancement now require a design that will do both.  This class will assist the student in understanding the world of mobility and how to navigate the NFPA and IFC codes as they relate to In-building Design and Engineering standards.  Objectives of the sessions are:

  • Understanding the design and engineering process for Public Safety In-Building Radio Systems
  • Learn the basics of radio frequencies and technologies being used today
  • Define the different approaches available for solving the In-Building wireless enhancements and why they are needed
  • Understand the challenges that NFPA and IFC codes present in the design and engineering of In-Building systems

Lunch will be made available at noon, before the start of the class courtesy of CTS.

The two classes have been approved for four (4) hours of CEUs total for Fire Code Administrator, Fire Safety Inspector I&II, Fire Service Instructor I,II and III.
