Insurance Services Office: Public Protection Classification - 4 hr.

Instructor: ISO Community Hazard Mitigation Manager Kyle Biles

(4 Contact hours approved for Fire Code Administrator and Fire Safety Inspector)

This Course will be taught by ISO Senior Field Representative and provide participants with the ability to improve their overall ISO rating. A general overview of the entire fire suppression rating schedule will be given to assist with improving the community grade. The class will focus a portion of the time on the Community Risk Reduction portion of the overall grading schedule. The class will allow participants to learn and enact polices with fire prevention, code enforcement, public education, and fire investigations to improve their community. Class will provide information on the critical importance of community risk programs and how the impact can increase their benefit to the community.

INSTRUCTOR:

Kyle Biles, Senior Field Representative, started with ISO in 2006. Prior to that, he worked in the insurance industry for 10 years as a claims adjuster. He also has a background in construction. During his time with ISO, Kyle has graded many communities all over the country. He routinely conducts alternative water gradings and evaluates complex fire protection situations. He has also been involved with the development and training of the field staff’s conversion from paper mapping to GIS, conducted PPC training classes to departments, and acts as a point of contact for many departments. As a Senior Field Representative, Kyle has also trained and mentored a substantial portion of the field staff from many parts of the country.
